Hibiscus tea is a herbal tea made as an infusion from the sepals of the Hibiscus sabdariffa flower. It has a tart, cranberry-like flavor, and sugar or honey is often added to sweeten it, served both hot or cold. Hibiscus is found in about 84 countries, but native to the tropical countries, particularly in West Africa.
Makes great hot tea AND an awesome iced tea! For Warm Tea: Add 1 tsp to 1 cup boiling water. Let sit for 5 min or longer. Strain and consume. You can add honey, lemon juice, mint leaves for added flavor. For Iced tea: Fill a pitcher with water and add 2-3 teaspoons of hibiscus tea, lemon wedges , mint leaves and some honey or sugar, if desired. Refrigerate overnight. Strain before consuming.
